Ruffia Trail Journal

Notes and sketches from long walks in quiet places

About this journal

This is a small personal log of hiking routes, gear notes, and weather observations collected over a few seasons of trail walking. Nothing here is for sale — just a place to keep track of paths worth remembering.

Recent entries

Ridge loop, early morning

Started before sunrise. Fog held in the valley until almost nine. Good footing, dry most of the way.

River crossing notes

Water was low enough to cross at the usual ford. Bring poles if it rained the night before.

Gear check

Swapped to lighter socks for the summer stretch. Old boots finally retired after this one.

Sketchbook page

A few pencil studies of the treeline from the overlook bench. Slow afternoon, good light.

A short note

Keeping a paper trail alongside the digital one helps. If you keep your own journal, the best habit is writing the entry the same evening — details fade fast otherwise.
